We all know that life can be hard at times. We all face situations we don’t like at some point. We have to act even if we want to curl up in a ball until the tough part is over.
It can make it more difficult to get through rough times. When we are going through a difficult time, we feel overwhelmed, scared, angry, and, of course, vulnerable. These emotions can lead to a greater struggle for us if we allow them to take over.
Even if life isn’t difficult, it can be hard to get the tough stuff done. The simple stuff is easier and more enjoyable. We tend to do the easy stuff first, then we procrastinate on the more difficult stuff for as long as possible.
What if we didn’t have to put up with the difficult stuff until it became too much? What if there were tools to help us accomplish difficult things? You might be able to get out of your own way and make it less difficult.
Perhaps we can learn some things to help us find our way out. Here are some of my favourite ways to accomplish difficult tasks with less effort.
Getting Hard Things Done With Less Struggle
1. Don’t Wait Until The Last Minute
Yes, I get it. Sometimes the hardest thing to do first is the last thing we want to do.
It’s not difficult, but it can feel a little like removing a bandage. It’s a common occurrence that the pain will be worse if you pull it off slowly. Most people would rather just take it off and get rid of it.
This is also true for difficult tasks. Don’t wait until the last minute and let the pressure build up on you, do it now! Get up early in the morning to do the hard things first, so that they are out of your way.
You will feel better in body, mind, and spirit. But think about how much easier everything will be once you have gotten rid of the difficult stuff.
2. Break It Into Smaller Tasks
It is easier to break down difficult tasks into manageable parts. We often struggle with something that seems too big, too large, or scary.
We get too overwhelmed to even consider taking the first step. We become caught up in the struggle. This can cause us to get so caught up in the struggle that we stop taking any action.
You can break down any difficult task into smaller steps. You’ll feel less overwhelmed if you break it down into smaller steps. Also, you’ll be able to get the difficult part done faster than if you try to do everything at once.
3. Try To Have A Strong Support System Around You
It’s almost impossible to accomplish difficult tasks if you do it all yourself. Even simple tasks can feel more difficult if you don’t have a support network. It can seem much more difficult to succeed without a support network.
You can count on a support network to provide you with emotional, spiritual, and physical support. Sometimes that support system can help you with difficult things.
You don’t have a support group? You don’t need a support team? Join a support group. You know deep down that you are capable of it. Keep telling yourself that you are worth it to get through the difficult stages of your life, and supporting yourself along the way.
We must rely on ourselves to survive. It is a good idea to support yourself 100% now and forever. If you already have a great supporter, it’s easier to create a strong support network. This will help you attract other people who support you in the same way.
4. Discipline
It’s not easy to do hard things for a good reason. It’s similar to dieting. You love chocolate and pizza, so it seems almost impossible to eat a salad. You will find that discipline is the key to getting through these tough times.
You already know what you want. To achieve the desired outcome you must be disciplined. Healthy eating habits are key to your health. It’s not healthy to eat all you want of pizza and chocolate. You can still enjoy chocolate and pizza if you practice discipline.
When you choose to eat 80-90% healthy food, and 10-20% pizza and chocolate, discipline is achieved. You will stick with it even when it is hard or downright frustrating. You will be able to achieve your goals and accomplish difficult tasks if you are disciplined, even when it seems like you might give up.
5. Give Your Best, Never Go After The Perfection
Certain tasks are already difficult enough. It becomes almost impossible to accomplish certain tasks when you add the pressure of perfection. You can’t be perfect if you fear the fear of not being perfect. Instead, strive for the Best Effort.
You’re putting in your best effort, which means that you do your best but also accept that there might be some mistakes. You must also trust your ability to recognize and rectify mistakes when they occur.
There is no perfect life. Making mistakes is how you learn and grow. Get out of your own way, and do the best that you can every second. We are all human. You are only human.
